Monika Bissell, DBA, president of Maine College of Health Professions (MCHP), has been elected president of the Consortium of Hospital-Affiliated Colleges and Universities (CHACU). CHACU’s membership includes more than 40 hospital-affiliated healthcare colleges and universities from around the country, all of which have formal affiliations with healthcare systems. CHACU institutions are noted for their superior outcomes, with average licensure exam scores far outpacing national averages.
“I’m deeply honored to be elected as president of this prestigious organization,” Dr. Bissell said. “CHACU has been a tremendous support to MCHP, and members from across the nation have long informed affiliated institutions of emerging healthcare education issues and opportunities. My goal is to continue to champion these efforts and help our member colleges and universities lead their organizations in developing strategies to effectively navigate the future of healthcare education.”
Dr. Bissell brings a unique leadership skill set to her CHACU position. She has experience as a New Hampshire state government bureau chief and academic. She has risen through the faculty and administrative ranks at several prestigious colleges and universities across the eastern United States, eventually becoming MCHP’s president in 2016, and becoming recognized as an expert and voice for healthcare education across the State of Maine.
