Telehealth Services
Central Maine Healthcare now offers telehealth services, bringing you the care you need when you’re unable to leave home. Online and telephone visits are available at most of our outpatient locations.
What is Telehealth?
Telehealth is a service provided to connect you with your healthcare provider virtually, without having to leave the comfort of your home. Telehealth includes phone appointments and video appointments with your provider using technology such as a smartphone, computer or tablet. Depending on your needs and the purpose of your intended visit, you are able to speak your provider about medical conditions and concerns, receive a diagnosis and request prescriptions. To find out if a telehealth visit is right for you, contact the Patient Service Representative at one of our outpatient practices. We can discuss your options with you and schedule the visit.
Telephone Visits
Telephone visits are now available in all CMH primary care and specialty care practices, so you can conduct your healthcare visit by phone from the comfort of your home. Available for both current and new CMH patients, these appointments are scheduled by calling your practice of choice and requesting the appointment. Phone visits are the same cost as an office visit and are covered by all in-network insurance providers.
Online Visits by Smartphone, Computer or Tablet
Many Central Maine Healthcare primary care and specialty care practices now have the ability to conduct online visits. You can visit with your provider using a smartphone, computer or tablet. Rehabilitation and Therapy
Whether you have suffered an injury at work or on the field, are recovering from surgery or just want to better manage pain, the Orthopaedic Institute of Central Maine can help.
We offer medically supervised orthopaedic rehabilitation programs, led by physical and occupational therapists who provide care on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Working closely with you and your physician, your rehabilitation team will design a tailor-made treatment plan to help relieve pain and restore strength, function and mobility. And we place special focus on education, arming you with strategies to help keep pain in check and prevent re-injury.
Personalized Programs to Get You Moving Again
Our specialties include:
- Physical Therapy: We provide comprehensive exercise and strength and conditioning therapies for orthopaedic traumasevere arthritis, and other bone and joint injuries. The team also includes specialized spine therapists, who use manual techniques to relieve the symptoms of neck and back pain, as well as therapeutic exercise to address posture, range of motion, flexibility, strength and coordination issues contributing to the spine problem.
- Occupational Therapy: We’ll help you regain the ability to perform daily activities following an injury; home living situations are simulated for activities such as bathing, grooming, meal planning and housekeeping. Along the way, your therapist will provide progress assessments and make any adjustments to maximize your success.
- Post-Operative Therapy: When you’re hospitalized following joint replacement, spine surgery, reconstructive surgery or another orthopaedic procedure, we’ll be right there to support you.
At Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) in Lewiston, our rehabilitation facilities are part of our all-in-one, single floor orthopaedics unit. This setup is specifically designed to support the initial states of recovery, helping you get back home and get moving again sooner. From there, we’ll continue to work with you on an outpatient basis, communicate regularly with your surgeon to ensure you’re progressing well.
- Sports Medicine: Kickstart your comeback from an athletic injury with OICM’s sports medicine specialists. Our specialized physicians, therapists and athletic trainers will design a customized treatment plan to help you return to pre-injury form.
