Rebecca Brakeley, MD, has been a member of the Central Maine Healthcare team since 2012, when she joined the health system as a pediatric hospitalist. She currently serves as interim chief medical officer, overseeing the quality and safety of patient care, supporting a team of more than 600 providers, and managing additional responsibilities. She is also the chief of women’s and children’s health, with oversight of midwifery, OB/GYN, and pediatrics.
Dr. Brakeley earned her medical degree from the University of Vermont and completed her pediatric residency at Maine Medical Center. She holds an undergraduate degree from Middlebury College, where she distinguished herself both academically and athletically as an NCAA champion in lacrosse and a finalist in field hockey.
Committed to providing high-quality healthcare and serving the community, particularly underserved populations, Dr. Brakeley is an active leader in professional organizations. She is a board member of the Maine chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and serves on the Maine Neonatal Telemedicine Leadership Board.
Dr. Brakeley resides in western Maine with her husband and three children. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family.
