The Woman’s Hospital Association (WHA) Rotating Art Gallery will feature photography by Lisa Bryant and Alana Ranney through the month of October. The gallery is located at 60 High Street in Lewiston, the main entrance to Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC).
Bryant’s photography is inspired by the Imogene Cunningham quote, “Which of my photographs is my favorite? The one I’m going to take tomorrow.” With a passion for capturing the tiny, everyday miracles of her surroundings in western Maine she is rarely without her camera. Her other favorite subjects to photograph are family, animals, and travel locations.
For Ranney, photography has been a life-long journey and creative outlet, allowing her to explore light and form. In addition to her photography skills, Ranney enjoys adding textures and overlays to her images transforming them into unique works of art. She has studied with top professionals at New England Institute of Professional Photography and through the Maine Professional Photographers Association. Ranney also keeps her skills up-to-date through online learning and forums. Her hard work has resulted in receiving many awards and having photographs published in local magazines, calendars, and publications. She is the owner of A Fine Photo, a boutique photo studio, and is available for commissions and assignments throughout Maine. To get into contact with Ranney log on to: www.afinephoto.com or www.mainefineartphotography.com.
“My art allows me to travel and explore the back roads of Maine looking for unique places and things to photograph. I enjoy nature and landscape photography and macro, and anything old and rusty! Maine has such a wide selection of things and unique places to photograph,” said Ranney.
The artists’ work may be purchased through the WHA Gift Shop, located adjacent to the main lobby at Central Maine Medical Center. A percentage of sale proceeds benefits CMMC.
