Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) presented its most recent Sunshine Award to Melissa Mathon, Tech.
The Sunshine Award was established to reward and celebrate the extraordinary skills and compassionate care given by technical support staff. Sunshine Award recipients consistently demonstrate compassion, patient- and family-focused care, passion about life, patient advocacy, and their support of all healthcare team members.
Co-workers describe Mathon as dedicated, extremely hardworking, and professional. She often goes above and beyond for her the patients in her care and does anything she is asked to do without hesitation.
The nomination story highlighted one such time when Mathon’s dedication shined. There were two babies admitted to the unit that required constant monitoring in addition to their normal needs. Mathon was assigned to be the CNA sitter in the room for a 12-hour shift. During her shift, she proceeded to feed, bathe, and console the babies while keeping up the strict records needed for their care. Not only did Mathon provide top-quality care but also provided some rest for the parents by helping take care of the tiny patients.
Mathon’s dedication to caring for her patients and their families personifies Central Maine Healthcare’s vision of touching the lives of its patients and elevating the communities it serves every day.
